When cleaning supplies go missing from the office store room, a rule-abiding receptionist’s loyalty to the company is tested.
‘Code of Conduct’ (2025) is a 12 min drama written and directed by Jagoda Tłok. The film follows Mira, a Polish receptionist in an office building, who is a dedicated employee. She works hard to climb the corporate ladder and distinguish herself from other immigrants in low-paid positions. When cleaning supplies begin to disappear from the storeroom, her loyalty to her employer is put to the test.
The film was shot in March 2024 and was commissioned as part of Little Pictures – a microbudget short film scheme funded by Screen Scotland and overseen by GMAC Film. The landmark scheme allocates funds to 12 Filmmakers and Producers who pair up to produce a short film with an allotted £2000 budget per film.
‘Code of Conduct’ is produced by Jess Kelly. This is not the first time that Tłok and Kelly have collaborated. The duo debuted with their short film, ‘Care’ which premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2023, before going on to pick up accolades at several BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals, as well as winning 3 Royal Television Society Awards.
The pair met at university and have since become a creative duo. They look forward to their next few months together, particularly as they submit the film to UK and European Festivals.
